Dear [name]
There will be a General Election on Thursday, 4 July 2024. Students and apprentices make up 10% of the voting population and have a vital part to play in the next election, but we need to be ready to Turn Up!
Pledge to Vote
Pledge to vote and NUS will send you all the information you need to take part in the election. Make it clear that students and young people's voices can’t be ignored – sign the pledge here. {Note to Student’s Union – you can replace the above link with your personalised SU link found here: SU Unique Codes - NUS UK}
Who can vote?
Students from more than 70 countries and territories are eligible to vote in the General Election. British citizens, Irish citizens and qualifying Commonwealth citizens are eligible, including from India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Malaysia.
If you’re an international student, you can check if you can vote here.
Registering to Vote
You must be registered in order to vote, and the deadline to register is the 18th June. Register to vote here.
Voter ID
Here you can find out what counts as valid voter ID.
Voter ID laws are a new barrier to students and young people voting at the General Election on 4th July. 60+ travel cards count as valid voter ID, but a 16 – 25 Railcard does not.
This is why NUS have teamed up with CitizenCard to offer FREE VOTER ID with the code ‘NUS‘. Sign up for your card by 12pm on 20 June here.
In solidarity,
{Your SU}
