22,000 students have been notified that their maintenance loans and childcare grants are being halted and they will have to pay what they have already received back - all because the government have decided to enforce regulations that learning on the weekends doesn’t make you eligible for financial support.
Thousands of these students are parents, so their maintenance loans go into supporting not only them but their families; the government is literally taking back money that goes into feeding their children.
