Democratic events

This year we've transformed our democracy and are collecting thousands of priorities from across the movement. SUs can submit their priorities to shape these events and we’ll also be polling students directly via our new polling platform What Students Think.

Throughout November we’ll be holding regional democratic events where elected Reps will participate in sessions to;

  • Identify priorities for the student movement in the UK.
  • Analyse priority and emerging themes
  • Develop campaigns on our priorities
  • Organise powerful actions to win as a collective

Plus, liberation caucuses and Ask Me Anything sessions with your NUS Officers.

Please note, rep entitlement applies for these events. Book places for your NUS reps today using the links below.

Priority submissions close on 14 October

A reminder that SU Priority Submissions are now open and close at midday on 14 October. This is your chance to feed into the collective priorities that shape NUS’s campaigning work.

When submitting, you can draw on a range of data sources, for example:

  • Surveys of your members
  • Candidate manifestos from SU elections
  • Data from your advice or support services
  • Go Out And Talk activities
…and more. If you’re using other sources, please let us know – we’re trialing this process to make it as relevant and useful for SUs as possible.

📌 Submit your priorities here.

Each member Students' Union may submit one entry.

At our democratic events, spaces will be given to discuss NUS' current priorities: funding, transport, trans rights, and international students' rights. SUs are welcome to submit any priority issues and don’t need to be restricted by this list, but as NUS has already committed to working on these issues, the potential to influence national work will be greater where they align. There will also be a space available to discuss an emergent priority.

Sessions for NUS reps

Over the next few weeks, we'll be running sessions to help prepare members for our democratic events.

We'll be running NUS Rep Prep sessions on 2 and 6 October, where your NUS reps can come to hear more about their roles, what to expect at NUS democratic events, and how to submit their SU's priority to our events.

Register for the session at 11am, 2 October
