Join NUS Trans Rights Action

Trans people are at the centre of a vicious culture war right now and trans rights are under attack. This is why working for trans rights is one of NUS’ four main priorities for 25/26. As a movement we must stand firm in our commitment to our trans students and build our collective capacity to promote and defend trans rights.

The political environment we’re trying to change is complex and will require careful navigation to ensure we are creating positive change, avoiding negative repercussions.

NUS will focus on movement building and lobbying nationally, with the aim to increase active allyship for trans+ people among youth & students, the Higher Education sector and within Parliament.

We’ll focus on working in strong coalitions, creating community & allyship, and investing in key political relationships we can leverage toward material change for trans people. We will also aim to develop and share best practice to empower trans students and SU’s to fight for trans rights locally as well as nationally. If that sounds like something you want to be involved in, please sign up.

You can also sign up to our online national chat on trans rights on 25th March, 2pm where we'll hear updates from Saranya, VP Liberation & Equality, and we'll have a chance to know about current campaigns and actions lead by students and apprentices all over the country.

We'll build up towards a national trans rights campaign day on May 8th so stay tuned for more details.
