Results of Voting at NUS National Conference

Delegates have cast their votes and the results are in following NUS National Conference 2023.

We can confirm the successful candidates for volunteer positions, as well as the results of voting on policies and amendments discussed at Conference and Accountability reports.

 

DPC and NSC election results

More than 80 candidates put their names forward for volunteer positions on the Democratic Procedures Committee (DPC) and National Scrutiny Council (NSC).

Members of DPC oversee NUS National Conference and processes for generating ideas from students and students' unions. NSC members provide scrutiny and oversight 

Following voting by NUS National Conference delegates, the following candidates were successful.

Elected to Democratic Procedures Committee:

  • Zahra Butt, University of Westminster Students' Union
  • India Ellis, Lancaster University Students' Union
  • Tom Guilbert-Newell, Keele University Students' Union
  • Liam Pem, University of Sussex Students' Union
  • Alex Stanley, University of Exeter Students' Guild

Elected to National Scrutiny Council:

  • Tomi Amole, Warwick Students' Union
  • Sam Bronheim, University of Manchester Students' Union
  • Steve Chapman, University of Sheffield Students' Union
  • Josh Cohen, Nottingham Trent Students' Union
  • Daniela Commey, Arts Students' Union
  • Anas Dayeh, Oxford University Students' Union
  • Ashlesha (Ash) Deshmukh, University of Bristol Students' Union
  • Jay Henri, University College Birmingham Guild of Students
  • Jabed, Greenwich Students' Union
  • Robert Millar, Ulster University Students' Union

In addition, the appointments of Heather Innes and Noah Katz to the NUS Board from 1st July as Student Directors have been ratified.

 

All Policies and Amendments Pass

Five policy proposals were discussed and debated at NUS National Conference.

Following voting by delegates, all five main policy proposals, alongside all amendments to the proposals, were passed.
