Policy Workshops
Policy development workshops: Spaces to understand the policy and different perspectives on the issue and possible solutions, which will shape the final policy that will be debates and voted on.
Next steps: Spaces to generate ideas for what actions different parts of the movement could take on the policy issue.
Policy clinic: An opportunity to seek clarification on the published policies before the debate, and bring the understanding between those that attended the policy development workshop and those engaging with the policy for the first time up to a similar level.
NUS reform session: If you haven’t been to a pre-conference briefing or the Reform policy workshop, this is opportunity to learn more about the proposed reforms and ask any questions you may have.

Panel discussion: Centering our humanity: fighting back against antisemitism and Islamophobia on our campuses
Since October 7th there has been an unprecedented rise in antisemitism and Islamophobia across the UK – including verbal and physical abuse. The majority of reported incidents in this period are connected in some way to the violence in Israel and Gaza – often with Jewish people being blamed for actions of the Israeli Government and Muslim people blamed for actions of Hamas. We’ll hear about what it’s been like for Muslims and Jews, what’s been happening in schools, colleges and unis across the UK, and, crucially, what we can do as students’ unions, activists, and leaders to fight back against this destructive hate.
Parallel Histories: Israel and Palestine This session is particularly recommended for people who feel they want to learn more about conflict in Israel and Palestine
Parallel Histories offers a new way to study contested histories by challenging participants to examine source evidence and debate alternative interpretations before coming to their own view. In this session you will learn about the contested history of conflict in the region, and you’ll examine the factors that have led up to the current violence taking place.
Solutions Not Sides: talking about Israel and Palestine This session is particularly recommended for people who are more experienced in conversations and activism around conflict in Israel and Palestine
Solutions Not Sides are one of the very few organisations actively creating spaces for students and young people to have solutions-focused and humanising conversations about Israel and Palestine. In this session you will explore different language and approaches to how we talk about Israel and Palestine so that everyone feels included, heard, safe, and respected
Campaign workshops
How to work together locally to influence decision makers: What local politicians can do to help students and how you can influence them
Winning on votes at 16: Help us plan Votes at 16 Week, creating content and the key arguments to win voting rights for 16 year olds.
Campaign in a Box: You’ll have created and sent a powerful letter to your MP about students’ needs at the General Election over the course of this workshop.
Saving the Graduate Route: What the Government is trying to do, and what we can do: an update on what’s going on with the grad route review, what NUS has done so far and actions you can take.
Creating winning campaign content - drop in: An intro on how to create really engaging social media content, in order to make and send in videos on student priorities in the General Election.
Jewish Life: A Culinary History (UJS): Come and join us as we use food to showcase the variety of Jewish life around the world and how that has changed over time. Come along to explore the diversity of Jewish communities and antisemitism, and the history behind some of our favourite dishes.
TURN UP: Getting Students registered to vote on campus: a big ideas generation session on winning the arguments to register to vote and filming campaign content on this.
Winning over decision-makers: how to talk to your MP: Here you’ll get the skills to meet with and have a persuasive conversation with your MP.
NUS Officer open space – drop in: An informal space to chat to the officers about NUS’ work and ask any questions you may have.
