Rising tuition fees, increasing student debt and cuts in maintenance grants – UK students just had enough! Thousands of students and teachers gathered in central London on 19 November to protest the government's educational policies, Rafaela Kuznec reports.

Journalist Rafaela

My name is Rafaela and I’m a freelance journalist and multimedia producer based in London. I have an interest in social affairs and work on independent documentary projects. I began my journalistic career at the leading Lithuanian monthly magazine and portal in the UK. I am currently studying a multimedia journalism degree at London South Bank University. My course involves a great deal of independent research which requires initiative, self-motivation and a wide range of skills. I enjoy producing video and audio, therefore I’m taking on the multimedia journalist role at NUS. I am keen to work for NUS because of its reputation of supporting and working on behalf of students and it’s a great opportunity for career development.
