NUS will today sign a new campaigning partnership agreement with the TUC which sets out a programme of collaboration between the trade union and student unions throughout the UK.

The partnership will be signed by NUS President Toni Pearce and TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady.

The partnership agreement will set out ten ways in which the TUC and NUS will work together and support each other’s campaigns.

These include campaigning together for a living wage, employment rights for apprentices, and promoting unions to students and young workers.

NUS National President Toni Pearce said: “The new partnership we have forged gives a firm indication of our shared commitment to working together to ensure our members can thrive.

"The student and trade union movements have always had a special bond, and I am delighted to be renewing our working relationship today in the name of a fairer, more prosperous society."

TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said: “The trade union and student movement share many challenges and also an ambition to see a fairer, more equal society.

“This new partnership aims to increase the ability of both organisations and their affiliates and members to campaign more effectively together.”
