Speaking in response to the publication of the House of Commons Select Committee Report into School and College Funding, Juliana Mohamad Noor, NUS Vice President Further Education said:
“There is a growing agreement that the education system we have today is in crisis. The report today complements many of the recommendations in the Augar report on post-18 education and supports a great deal of what we at NUS have been saying for some time.
“Finally there seems to be increasing recognition of the enormous impact that political decisions have had and are having on young people’s educational opportunities, and how they’re undermining attempts to tackle social justice.
“We welcome the Report and fully support the Committee’s call for the Department of Education to outline its plans and an implementation timetable to improve transport support for 16–19 education and apprentices as a matter of urgency.”
