NUS Election Results Announced!

For the first time in NUS’ history, election of its full time student officers took place online, following the introduction of sweeping reforms approved at the 2019 National Conference. Voting was open to 676 delegates from NUS member students’ unions between 16 March and 31 March with an overall 80% turnout of voters recorded.

Congratulations to all the winners and all those who took part. Voters had a tough choice to make between a range of incredible candidates offering different perspectives and approaches. Keep scrolling to meet the winners!


National President

Larissa Kennedy has been duly elected as NUS National President for a two-year term, and will take up her position on 1 July. As president, Larissa will chair the NUS board, leading NUS from transition into reform and completion of a three-year turnaround programme. Vice President Further Education

Salsabil Elmegri has been duly elected as Vice President Further Education for a two-year term, achieving 48% of votes. Salsabil wants to see NUS fighting for FE students and apprentices, like she’s done as Vice President at Bradford College. You can read more about her HERE.


Vice President Higher Education

Hillary Gyebi-Ababio has been duly elected as Vice President Higher Education  for a two-year term, by an overwhelming 85% of voters. Hillary, who is currently the Undergraduate Education Officer at University of Bristol Students' Union, believes that education should be free, accessible and open to all. NUS Scotland President

NUS Wales President

Becky edit

Becky Rickets has been duly elected as NUS Scotland President. Becky, who is the Group President at TSDSU and the NUS Wales part-time Women's Officer, will begin her role in the summer. Read more HERE.
