Friday 11 March 2016 International Students

We are delighted to announce the winners of NUS International Students’ Awards 2016.

The awards recognised the positive impact of international students to our campuses and society over the past year.

Hansika Jethnani from the University of the Arts Students’ Union was named as International Student of the Year. Hansika mobilised international students for the Grants Not Debt demo in November and put on an exhibition called Road to Solidarity, which showcased students’ artwork about education and student movements around the world.

Yinbo Yu was named as International Students’ Officer of the Year for his work in challenging racism on campus to organising major events like Chinese New Year Gala. The first ever Chinese sabbatical officer at his union, Yinbo has been a passionate advocate for international students, and recently told us about his experiences as a Chinese student.

The International Students’ Campaign of the Year was awarded to Christina Anastasiou from University of Essex Students’ Union. Christina challenged her university to increase funding for international students, and organised major events around Diwali and Mid Autumn Moon Festival.
