Can your dissertation make the world a better place?

Wednesday 12 February 2014 Green Zone

If you’re starting to plan your third year dissertation, have you thought about how you can use your research to promote social good?

In 2014/15 we are launching a brand-spanking new pilot called Dissertations for Good, where we connect students with external organisations to complete dissertations that are practical, fascinating and publishable.

This incredible opportunity will give students the chance to lead some ground-breaking research with an organisation that will use the results to inform how they operate.

If you’re having meetings with a supervision advisor, why not start discussing about how your dissertation can be used to create knowledge to support ethical and environmental benefits?

From 2014/15, you can contact us to support you on this. We’ll pair students and supervisors with relevant organisations, and help you to shape a project which everybody is happy with and excited about. We stay in touch throughout the whole process, supporting you whenever you need it.

Once complete, your dissertation is made available to the organisation you partnered with, where its new research and knowledge can help them to guide their operations, and create a hugely positive impact.

Just like so many of you, we believe that sustainability is integral to education, which is why we're so excited about this project.

We can’t wait to speak to students who want to revolutionise the way that dissertations are carried out – students who want their dissertations to actively contribute to social, economic and environmental good.
