The Association of Managers in Students' Unions (AMSU) has voted overwhelmingly to merge with NUS. The vote was taken during AMSU’s Annual General Meeting at Royal Holloway.
The merger, which will be completed by the end of the year, will see the current AMSU integrated into NUS, which will have responsibility for students’ union staff development. NUS will be working closely with the current AMSU trustees to ensure the smooth transition of AMSU's work to NUS as well as identifying new projects.
AMSU and NUS have been working together for over two years on collaborations. In the future, a committee made up of students’ union staff will shape staff development work within NUS, and help ensure students’ union staff networking continues including specialist groups and regional meetings.
Jane Whalen, AMSU Chair, said: “This is a fantastic outcome, and will ensure that the student movement as a whole is able to make great steps forward in the coming months and years, especially around the 'Talent Management' strategy as detailed in Surfing the Wave.”
