Amnesty International Student Journalist Award – nominations open

Win a work experience placement at The Observer through the prestigious Amnesty Media Award.

Amnesty International is celebrating 25 years of high-end human rights journalism by showcasing the best reporting in print, broadcast and digital media at their annual Media Awards.

The Best Student Journalist Award is a fantastic opportunity for a student journalist to receive the recognition they deserve, and gain invaluable work experience at a national broadsheet newspaper.

Entry is free any human rights article published in a recognised national, regional or student media publication can be submitted.

Jonathan Lawrence picked up last year’s award after exposing child prostitution in the Jordanian city of Zarqa.

The deadline for entry is 1 August 2016, and the entry articles must be written between 1 August 2015 and 31 July 2016.

The winning entrant will receive two weeks’ work experience at the Observer as well as a range of other NUS, Amnesty, and Observer prizes.

Any student in full-time education at a UK higher or further education institution is eligible to apply.
