We're always looking for ways to help you save energy at home and in halls. And so is Great British Bake Off finalist Ian Cumming, who has a few energy saving recipes to share with you.
We've teamed up with Smart Energy GB to bring you this delicious selection of recipes from Ian Cumming, designed to use as little gas and electricity as possible.
Why not try one out yourself? And if you want to take energy saving even further, did you know you can get a smart meter absolutely free? That can really help you monitor your energy usage.
Ian even used a smart meter to develop these recipes.
Smart meters show you how much energy you’re using and what it’s costing as you go along. After he upgraded to his smart meter, Ian decided to get creative in the kitchen, using the information he gets about his energy use to develop a series of easy-to-make energy saving dishes, all costing less than 10p in energy to make.
That's something to talk about with your housemates over a meal...
Feta and spinach steamed buns
A great alternative to baked bread rolls
90 second Welsh bara brith cakes
Amazingly light sponge, which cooks in a minute and a half in the microwave
Scottish salmon macaroni cheese
A delicious and easy to make dish, which is quickly grilled instead of baked.
You can also downlaod all of these - and a couple more - as recipe cards here.
