Three teenagers negotiate their fourteenth birthdays in very different ways in Glenn Waldron's new play.
Growing up in the social media age presents very new challenges; every emotion is judged, every flaw exposed, every mistake recorded forever.
Natives links the stories of three teenagers facing up to these challenges on a single day, in very different circumstances. Styled as ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’, the three protagonists deliver interweaving monologues as they come to terms with how quickly their lives can change.
Engulfed in technology, which brings escapism from the real world as well as its own pressures and expectations, they wrestle with their own consciences in the full glare of their peers.
Brought to life by an innovative crew and dynamic performances from Ella Purnell, Manish Gandhi and Fionn Whitehead, Natives provides an absorbing vision of the challenges facing young people in 2017.
Natives is showing at Southwark Playhouse until 22 April, and we have a pair of tickets to give away – ENTER HERE for your chance to win for a night of your choice!
