The University of Plymouth is one of the UK's most prominent and dynamic universities. It is consistently ranked as one of the top three modern universities in the UK. The University prides itself on having – in the words of The Sunday Times University Guide 2006 - ‘one of the best records of teaching and research in the modern university sector’. The University of Plymouth Students’ Union (UPSU) is a free and independent organisation that’s led by students for the benefit of students. UPSU is involved in and influences many aspects of university life; from representation, commercial services, advice and welfare through to bars, entertainment, recreation, volunteering, sports and societies. The SU is headed by an Executive of five full-time sabbatical officers who are elected annually by students and with over 100 sports clubs and activity-based societies to choose from, through to volunteering, community action and student media, there is plenty to get involved in. UPSU also has a team of specially trained advisers that are available to offer information and advice to students during their time at University.
