At the Students’ Union, our mission is to improve the experience of university life by providing quality services, representation and development opportunities to all.The Students’ Union represents 33,000 students from 140 different countries studying at sites across the East Midlands, Malaysia and China. We support over 170 societies and 75 sports clubs as well as a theatre, magazine (Impact), award winning student-run radio station (URN) and fledgling TV station. We also place over 1,200 students volunteering in the community through our Student Volunteer Centre. To help our students enjoy the social side of university life, we have an extensive list of Union-run events at local night clubs and at our own newly refurbished venues, Mooch and The Venue. For more day-to-day matters, the Students’ Union runs shops, a print shop, travel centre, and operates a welfare department offering housing and financial advice, and representation on academic matters.
