Sheffield College Students' Union

Granville Rd

South Yorkshire

(SCSU) is a democratic, student-led, and rapidly growing organisation representing around 25000 students every year at The Sheffield College. Every student at The Sheffield College automatically becomes a member of SCSU. Political campaigns organised in the last year include our wide-ranging Another Education is Possible campaign, fighting against tuition fees, for an extension of grants such as EMA to all students, and supporting our lecturers against pay cuts by College management. Our social activities include parties (our last one was attended by over 200 students), trips to Alton Towers, sports clubs and other societies set up and run by students, a Journalism Committee, and our Union Volunteers initiative. Our student-led basis is reinforced by regular general meetings (Union Council and Site Committees) at which ordinary students take the lead, elections to our Executive Committee which runs the Union, and involvement in our Student Reps System.
