Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is based on the beautiful 320 acre Whiteknights parkland campus. It provides an essential voice for the 17,500 students within the University of Reading.  A team of five sabbatical officers lead the Union as well as campaigning on issues which matter to students. The Union building has recently had an £1.8 million facelift and its new ‘Hub’ area hosts the Membership Service centre which offers support for those involved in volunteering and student activities as well as a team of independent advisors, Student Media space and the Thet Win Aung Boardroom. The Students’ Union has several lively bars and holds a range of activities from events in the 3sixty nightclub, local bands, and quiz and karaoke evenings to regular society parties. A retail mall offers an in-house shop and juice and coffee bar, as well as franchised space for an insurance broker, bookshop, cereal and bagel bar, a hairdresser and an oriental food store, all catering for the diverse needs of our students. RUSU also has a Nursery which is run by a qualified team and exists to cater for those students who need help with childcare whilst they are studying.
