City and Islington College Student Union serves over 15,000 students. The SU ensures the student voice plays an integral role in the decision making of the College. The SU has a well developed structure with Class Reps, Centre Reps and an Executive Officer Committee. The SU President and one Executive officer are Student Governors. The SU is well respected in College with a close and productive working relationship with all academic departments, Learning Centres, Student Services and senior management. Every year the Student Union run the following activities, events and services: Welcome Fair, NUSExtra cards, Jack Petchey Awards, termly newsletter ‘Student Union Eye Candi’, Black History Month, Student Volunteering Week, Volunteering referral service, Beat Bullying Week, No Smoking Week, Want Respect? Wear a Condom Campaign, Focus groups on teaching and learning, end of term concerts, end of year Prom, Candi Challenge, talent shows, Clubs and Societies and Peer Mentor schemes.
