With this arithmetic, it was tempting for MPs to please their bosses now and hope the rest of us have short memories. If we're going to get MPs to take keeping promises seriously, we need to change that arithmetic. We need to prove to MPs that the promises they have broken now will come back to haunt them at the next election.
Together, we can raise a massive campaign fund to remind voters of the broken promises (on tuition fees, EMA etc) at the next general election, which could be any time between now and May 2015. As MPs weigh up how to vote, they will be haunted by images of billboard adverts and leaflets paid for by us to remind their voters of their broken tuition fees promise. That will transform the cost of breaking a promise. That could be enough to get more MPs to keep their word.
Click here to donate to the broken promises campaign fund, and prove that the promises broken now will be remembered at the next election in four years' time.
As this fund grows, it will become a great lobbying tool for negotiating with your MP. Our message is clear, stop saying you'll do one thing and then vote for another - this betrayal will be remembered.
Thank you for all your support.
