Following Business Secretary, Vince Cable’s revelation in an interview today that he would vote for a policy he championed, just days after he said he would possibly abstain, the National Union of Students have responded to yet another U-turn.

Aaron Porter, NUS President, said:

“Dr Cable has performed so many U-turns over the issue of university funding that he is spinning on his heels. That might stand him in good stead with the Strictly Come Dancing judges but the electorate will see it differently.”

“From pledging to vote against a rise in tuition fees, to devising a plan to treble them, to saying he might not vote for his own policy, and now begrudgingly heading for the Aye lobby it is a decision making process so calamitous to be less Mr Bean and more Mr Bump.”
