Aaron Porter, NUS President, said:

“As usual, some churlish people will diminish the achievements of hundreds of thousands of hard working young people by suggesting that their exams have gotten easier. We should be congratulating all those who are getting their results today and supporting them as they enter the next stage of their lives.

“The crisis in university places, cuts to funding for education and training, high youth unemployment and little job creation places our young people at risk of becoming a lost generation.

“The Government must invest in a generation that is being hit with the fallout of the baby-boomers’ excesses or face consigning them to dole the queue.”
