NUS Scotland played a key role in persuading the Scottish Government to introduce the scheme to protect students and other tenants from landlords who unfairly withhold their deposits and has submitted a response to the consultation.
Our research report, Brick by Brick: The State of Student Housing in Scotland, showed that on average a student will lose over £200 from unfair deductions from their deposit. A protection scheme should help to stop this from happening.
