Student voting and civic participation

We’re working with our Further Education colleagues to promote the ongoing Citizen 16 campaign. Initially, this has involved identifying and working with partners to ensure a concerted and cooperative approach from different student and youth organisations.

We’ll be aiming to increase student participation in voting ahead of a likely general election in 2010. This work will focus on:

  • Working with the electoral commission  to get students registered to vote
  • Promoting the importance of voting and civil participation to students through students’ unions
  • Running a ‘get the student vote out’ promotional campaign in the event of a general election being called to increase participation in voting among students.
