Resolve to Resolve - Email the FE minister

NUS has launched a campaign asking you to call on the government to resolve to make a New Year’s resolution to set up an independent complaints adjudicator for further education.

Many of you will have marched on #demo2012 to stand up for education, employment and empowerment. Make this campaign one of the first steps in taking these issues back to campuses and communities across the UK, so that students can better affect the quality of their education and experience a better quality education as a result!

Recent research by NUS has revealed both that complaints procedures vary extremely from one college to the next and that many further education students are unaware of their rights. On top of this, there is no independent body in FE to oversee the complaints students might have.

With the introduction of FE loans later in the year, changes to the ways teachers are qualified, the loss of EMA and the government encouraging institutions to adopt new controversial ‘stop and search’ powers, students in further education face a rapidly changing environment.

We need to act now to ensure students have a vital safety net and a means to express their concerns!

Write to Matthew Hancock MP, Further Education and Skills Minister, asking him to resolve to establish an independent complaints adjudicator for further education students in the New Year!

Why not use our draft letter and email Matthew Hancock now…
