After meeting with the Chair, Mr Roger Thomas, Katie received a letter inviting her to observe Council meetings for an initial period of two years.
The President of NUS Scotland has observed meetings of the Scottish funding Council since 2005, but this is the first time NUS Wales has received the same invitation. NUS UK do not currently have an observer place on HEFCE Council.
Katie Dalton, President of NUS Wales said:
“The invitation to join HEFCW Council as an observer is evidence of a clear commitment from the HE sector towards student engagement at every level of higher education.
I would like to thank the Chair of HEFCW Council for the invitation to observe Council meetings and look forward to attending my first meeting on Friday 23rd October 2009.”
