Too long it has been since the NUS Wales LGBT Campaign has been active and as I promised each and every one of you, this is the year that change will happen, this is the year that we will make an impact in Wales, and this is the year that as LGBT students across Wales we will work together to make life better for the rest of us!
I write this to you now to announce the launch of the NUS Wales LGBT Campaign plans and committee to all students across the United Kingdom. My goal in creating an improved communications system between LGBT societies and officers across Wales will happen with a spectrum of online activity for you all to participate which will also be launched on Friday.
So far since gaining my position in May and officially coming into office on July the 1st huge planning sessions on the organisation, running and structure of the NUS Wales LGBT Campaign has been going on and already we have a higher budget giving us as a campaign more opportunities through out the year, a full restructuring schedule of the NUS Wales LGBT annual conference so that you get the best out of it, as obligated to do so the starts of a reform committee made up of officers from all around our Welsh institutions and the formation and organisation of the priority campaigns and key areas for the year.
Move further from this I have attended the first WNEC meeting of the year and made our priorities clear to the entire WNEC of where we want to be at the end of the year and I will be at NUS UK LGBT training in London next week to ensure that the Welsh voice is heard there also.
So all I want to say now is look out on Friday for the new Facebook and Twitter pages, and a release of what we are working towards next year – as well as a forum set up so you can have continuous input in the campaign all year and not just at the annual conference.
If there’s any problems or questions at present please get in touch with me via facebook or email!
Yn Balchder,
Ian Morgan
NUS Wales LGBT Officer
