NUS will receive funding to help prevent crime against students over the next year.

Vulnerable

The work will focus on groups of students who are vulnerable at different points in the year: for example, during exams, at Christmas, or when they are moving into new accommodation.

“Students are particularly vulnerable to burglary, because many of them spend long periods away from home during holiday times or exam periods," says NUS President Wes Streeting.

“We welcome the Home Secretary's determination to protect the public from burglary. Thanks to Government funding, we will ensure that students are playing our part in protecting ourselves and our wider communities from the threat of burglary. We will build the capacity of students’ unions to advise students on how to avoid becoming victims of burglary and run a series of initiatives in towns and cities across the country to protect our properties and our communities."
