The new project is already getting underway and will begin by carrying out research into the international student experience.
Liam Burns, NUS Scotland Depute President said:
"NUS Scotland has worked hard to ensure that students in Scotland are aware of the opportunities available to them to broaden their horizons with a period of study abroad and we're delighted that this award will allow us to advance on that work.
"This funding will also mean that, for the first time, we will be able to focus on enhancing the quality of the educational experience of international students coming into Scotland. We look forward to expanding our work with key stakeholders to ensure that students are offered the best educational experience possible, whether at home or abroad."
Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Life Long Learning said:
"This new fund will support our work to promote international lifelong learning by increasing the capacity of our colleges and universities to attract and retain students and high calibre staff from across the globe, while improving opportunities for students and staff from Scotland to develop their skills and experience overseas."
