It is also where students are elected or re-elected to positions on the National Executive Committee. This year’s candidates include, NUS President Wes Streeting, who is standing for re-election. He will be challenged by Rob Owen and Dee Patel. You can view a full list of candidates for all posts here.
National Executive Council
Under new proposals, passed at an Extraordinary Conference earlier this year, NUS will be run by a National Executive Council and a Board of Trustees.
The Council will set NUS’ policy, priorities and campaigns. The Board, which will have student representatives on it, will oversee the organisation’s finances and will also advise the council.
There will also be a new post opened up for a Vice President Society and Citizenship and a Vice President Union Development.
Student matters
Greening students’ unions, ethical investments, student safety, healthcare, student employment and e-learning will be discussed alongside NUS’ campaign on the review of the higher education funding system.
Keep your eye on the website for the results and news from Conference.
