The NUS Awards, held in partnership with Endsleigh Insurance, recognise the inspirational work carried out by individual students, student media and students’ unions across the UK.
From Cornwall to Sheffield and Edinburgh to Canterbury, 35 nominees from over 60 students’ unions have made it through.
Achievements
This year’s finalists have worked on a range of activities, including a housing campaign, improving the college catering and even exposing investments propping up the Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe.
“The NUS Awards are a unique opportunity to demonstrate the successes of students and the valuable contribution they make to their fellow students, university or college and the wider community,” said NUS President Wes Streeting.
Commitment
“This year’s finalists have provided outstanding examples of commitment, passion and dedication across a range of activities.”
The full list of finalists can be found on the NUS Awards website.
Lifetime achievement
This year will also see the first Lifetime Contribution Award given which will recognise the long-term contribution of one individual to NUS and the student movement. The recipient of this Award will be announced at the Awards ceremony.
The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony to be held at The Brewery in London on 12 June. The evening will be hosted by comedian and former Bristol University student, Marcus Brigstocke. For those wishing to attend the evening tickets are now available for sale on the NUS Awards website.
