Student representatives from across Scotland came together at NUS Scotland’s National Conference in Irvine on March 3-4 to elect new student leaders for the coming year – re-electing Robin Parker as President for a second one-year term from July.

Robin Parker received 68 delegate votes, Charandeep Singh received 56 votes and Re-Open Nominations received two votes.

Graeme Kirkpatrick ran unopposed and was elected Vice President (Education), a full-time role that replaces the Depute President position.

A full list of elected officers, including the new Scottish Executive Committee, is located in the notes section at the end.

This year's NUS Scotland Conference was its largest-ever, with over 150 delegates from colleges and universities coming together to elect national officers, set national policy and debate issues during fringe events.

The event took place following the success of the biggest campaign the organisations has run - Our Future Our Fight - which saw over 80,000 emails sent to MSPs calling on them to protect college bursaries and college funding.

Robin Parker,  President of NUS Scotland, said: “I am absolutely honoured to have been re-elected NUS Scotland President. I commend Charandeep and his team for the enthusiasm and positivity with which he ran his campaign he ran and the issues he raised.

"I've been amazed at the hard work and enthusiasm of students across Scotland over the past year, and look forward to continue working with them to again make lasting change in Scottish education.

"When students come together we've shown what we can do. Our students have had great campaigning successes this year, including Our Future, Our Fight which saw over 80,000 emails sent to MSPs and college bursaries protected. We have also succeeded in improving student support for HE students, while protecting EMA, places and a tuition-free Scotland.

"However, there is much more to do. We want to see a Scotland where your education is based on your ability not your background and we'll be working through the Government's Post-16 Reform legislation to see action in this area.

"NUS Scotland will be making fair access our priority in the coming year, and I look forward to leading that fight."
