The Union has been nominated in the categories of Partnership, Best Companies and Accountability and Transparency.
In the category of Accountability and Transparency Kent has been nominated for its efforts in development of effective channels of communication for its stakeholders.
Communications
The use of scrutiny committees, strategy groups and printed communications, such as annual reports and financial statements allow stakeholders to gain a clearer and more comprehensive account of the organisation and what it achieves.
The policies adopted to improve work-life balance, morale, motivation and staff relations such as the Flexible Working Policy, which includes cutting edge procedures such as annualised hours, generous maternity, paternity and grandparent leave and compressed hours led to its nomination for Best Employer.
Only union nominated
The Awards, now in their fourth year, are intended to recognise and celebrate the quality of work carried out by organisations across the voluntary sector. Kent Union is the only students’ union in the country to be shortlisted in these Awards.
NUS has also been nominated for its work on the HSBC campaign and will go head to head with Beatbullying, Beat, Leonard Cheshire and Missing People.
