Hope not Hate

NUS represents all students and believes that everyone should be given the opportunity to participate fully in a society that celebrates diversity. But this is under threat from the British National Party (BNP).

Unless we act, it looks likely that the BNP will win seats in the European elections in June. In the North West, the BNP only need a 2-3 per cent swing to their 2004 vote to win a European parliamentary seat. But this is not the only place that the BNP is campaigning. The threat affects all our members and the danger is nationwide.

We can stop them

The BNP believe in a divisive and aggressive form of fear - spreading the politics of hate throughout our communities, but we can stop them.

Thousands of students have already signed up to the Hope not Hate campaign and you can too. It's easy to do and has real results. We've already stopped the BNP fundraising, we even stopped a march taking place, all through people power.

It only takes a few minutes and signing up means you can stop the BNP in their tracks. You can be involved as much or as little as you like – all you need to get started is to sign up.

The BNP stands against everything that we stand for. The only question that remains is what are you going to do about it? We need your help – we can’t do it without you. Please sign up now

Get the vote out

NUS is also hosting a free one-day event in Manchester on Monday 27 April to help you get the vote out in your area.

In some places the BNP only needs a two per cent increase in the vote it receives, which is why it's important we get the vote out. Register now  for the event.
