These fairs are always jam packed with enthusiastic students engaging with college life for the first time for many.
This generation of FE students is the first to encounter schools councils in Wales; therefore they understand their right, as a learner, to be heard within their own educational establishments. Engaging with such enthusiastic students was infectious and reminded us of the reason why NUS Wales has been pushing for stronger learner voice mechanisms within further education institutions.
Where the students have the opportunity and power to participate in the decisions that affect them, students gain greater confidence and experience a happier learning environment. To these students, empowerment is essential.
