The project is a result of the recent WAG FE Learner Involvement Strategies Guidance.
This guidance, which NUS Wales helped to develop, encourages all FE learning providers in Wales to set up their own strategy to promote student engagement in their college.
This is a really exciting project and is a great opportunity for Wales to leapfrog the rest of the UK in engaging and representing FE students.
The project will run for three years and will enable NUS Wales to employ a new, dedicated FE Development Worker.
This post will provide much needed support and guidance to FE colleges, students' unions and staff so that learner involvement strategies are effective and make a real difference in the way students get involved in the governance and quality of their college.
As part of the project NUS Wales will be delivering training for FE Student Governors in the new term. We will also be working with CollegesWales to develop guidance and support for staff and college management.
Please watch this space for more developments as the project gets underway.
If you are interested in the project and want to book some time with the new FE Development Worker early, then please email Rhys Dart, Development and Training Officer at rhys.dart@nus-wales.org.uk or call the NUS Wales office.
