Equal Marriage has been a priority for the NUS Scotland LGBT Campaign for over five years and we are almost there!
Thanks to our campaigning, we’ve secured a consultation on same-sex marriages.
However the leadership of the Catholic Church in Scotland have pledged to have 100,000 postcards sent to the Scottish Government against the proposals.
If we want to win marriage equality in Scotland, we need to ensure that there is a majority of positive responses to the consultation, and that’s why I’m asking the whole student body to get involved - because it shouldn’t just be an LGBT issue.
If you have any questions, get in touch!

Here's seven things you can do win equal marriage in Scotland
We’ve developed a wide-ranging campaign to allow you to get involved easily, to truly make a difference:
1) Sign the petition letter at http://www.nusscotlandlgbt.org.uk
2) Share the Facebook event with friends: http://on.fb.me/pQbHve
3) Do lecture shout-outs, hand out leaflets and set up stalls in public areas asking people to sign-up using the two versions of the consultation response (Version one Version two)
4) Contact societies and sports clubs and ask them to have their members sign the petition at www.nusscotlandlgbt.org.uk
5) Ask student media editors to put the attached page in their student magazine or newspaper
6) Rise to the top of the table and gain glory for your students' association by signing up the most students on your campus. Report back the number of letters signed to Nathan Sparling and we'll post the results of how each college and university is doing in getting signatures in the coming weeks.
7) Request postcards - we'll be getting postcards printed in the next two weeks to make it even easier in the coming weeks to get signatures. Get in touch at Nathan Sparling to request postcards.
