English Language Assistants support the teaching of English in schools, colleges and universities in 14 countries around the world. Becoming a Language Assistant is an experience that will stay with you for life.
As well as improving your language skills and exploring a community, you’ll build your sense of independence and gain the satisfaction of firing young imaginations. As a language assistant you will teach and live abroad for up to one year. You will work between 12 and 20 hours a week and receive a local salary.
Eligibility Criteria for English Language Assistants:
- Native level English speaker, must have had secondary education in UK
- Completed at least 2 years of higher education by time going on assistantship (all countries apart from China)
- Final year undergraduates or graduates ONLY are eligible for China
- AS, Higher or equivalent level in foreign language (NO language requirement for China though)
- Must meet requirements of host country, including passport (usually only UK or EU acceptable)
