The Everydayexismproject is looking for women with experiences of harassment who are willing to share their story in brief but totally frank on-camera interviews for a 10-minute documentary which Chime for Change have commissioned us to make. This could be anything from the minor to the life-changingly traumatic, from small everyday irritations to sexual assault and rape.
Gucci have commissioned ten short documentary films about inspiring individuals and campaigns across the world. Our company Amos Pictures is making one, and they’re hoping that because it will be a story about women and girls in the UK it will be one of the main films to be showcased at the gig on June 1st.
A bit about the film: it will be based around a profile of Laura Bates’ amazing Everyday Sexism movement and include testimony from dozens of women and girls who’ve experienced everyday harassment or more severe forms of abuse because they’re women. The idea is to represent the full range of experiences collected by #everydaysexism, but with on-camera interviews instead of Tweets and website posts. By bringing these voices together, the film will prove that harassment is a problem, it's not ok, and it's time for us all to shout back.
The interviews will be conducted sometime in mid-April in a London studio, it will all be pretty low-key and straightforward. The BAFTA-winning director of the film, Dan Reed, has been working for more than a decade with UK broadcasters such as BBC and Channel 4, so you'll be in good hands.
