It is not impossible that other mistakes may have been made in other exams that have not been reported to the media which can affect students’ final grades. Reported instances have included questions which are impossible to answer, questions without enough information to answer correctly and a multiple choice question without the correct answer to even choose from.

NUS has serious concerns with a process which has allowed these reported instances to occur but is calling on all students to consider if they might also have been affected.

If you believe that an exam that you have taken this year might have contained a faulty question you should immediately make a complaint and inform NUS. You can email me by clicking here

Students who wish to make a complaint should first contact their school or college’s exams office and may request support from their students’ union. For information and contact details of how to make a complaint to exam boards follow these links:

Shane Chowen, NUS Vice-President (Further Education), said:
"Students should assume that exam papers are correct and focus on doing their best at this stressful time. We will be monitoring the actions of exam boards and Ofqual to make sure they are doing everything they can to make sure there are no more errors and that no-one is disadvantaged by an error in an exam paper."
