We take a look at how Obama has tackled some of the biggest issues facing the world.
The economy
Obama began his term with the task of rescuing the failing economy. The Stimulus Plan was introduced - $787billion dollars (£539billion) was injected into the US economy and money is being used to deal with rising unemployment. Jobs in the public sector, such as the police, have been saved and transport projects have been given the green light, which will see more jobs created.
But critics argue there is little evidence to suggest it’s making a significant impact. Some believe the Stimulus plan did not include enough tax cuts and that money is not being invested in the right area. What do you think? Is it too early to tell if it’s making a difference?
Climate change
Obama pledged to make climate change a priority and he appears to be sticking to his promise. The Stimulus plan included $23billion for renewable energy and one of the goals is to cut greenhouse gas emissions. This is a change from the Bush administration but a lot more is needed to make a real commitment to the climate. What do you think Obama should do?
Iraq
Obama says the US “combat mission” will end by August 2010. It is expected that up to 50,000 of the 142,000 soldiers there now, however, will remain to advise Iraqi forces and protect US interests. Do you think American soldiers should stay in Iraq, or is it time for them all to go home?
