Launched on 3 May the London 2012 Student Ambassador: Be a Champion  project, funded by Coca-Cola and HEFCE, aims to maximise the engagement of students and students’ unions within HE and FE across the UK in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The programme will:

  • raise student participation within student unions and the local community;
  • provide an avenue for communicating opportunities to students to be involved in the Games;
  • promote the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

To achieve these aims the recruitment and deployment of Student Ambassadors will form an integral part of the programme. Student Ambassadors will join a network of students and students’ unions across the country who will be trained, through a bespoke regional training programme, and supported on ways to engage with the 2012 Games. Alongside this an online portal  will provide information for students across the UK about what’s going on in their local area and how they can get involved in London 2012.

The National Steering Group will underpin the whole programme, over-seeing the project and supporting it’s development over the project lifespan. We’re looking to appoint one students’ union staff representative, one students’ union officer representative and one student.

If you are interested in this fantastic opportunity please complete this form and return to beachampion@nus.org.uk or post to 4th Floor, 184-192 Drummond Street, London NW1 3HP by 10am 5th May.

If you’d like to have an informal chat about the role, or other aspects of the project please contact Fiona Ellison, Project Manager.
