Top summer sounds

There is no point in denying it: summer is coming to an end and autumn is well and truly lurking around the corner. In order to keep sane and prevent myself from crying in a pillow, putting on six jumpers and hibernating until next year I have made a playlist of the top summer sounds.

In order to keep sane and prevent myself from crying in a pillow, putting on six jumpers and hibernating until next year I have made a playlist of the top summer sounds. The songs below will always remind me of summer 2012 and here’s why:

How we do (Party),  Rita Ora
Not only did I experience my first festival this summer, but I had never slept in a tent before! Seeing Rita Ora perform her second single ‘How We Do (Party)’ at V Festival was incredible. The young singer’s feel good tune combined with the sweltering 30 degree heat wave in Essex topped off this weekend as being one of the best of my life – despite the portaloos!

Payphone, Maroon 5 ft. Wiz Khalifa
This ridiculously catchy collaboration fromMaroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa had my friends and me humming along until sunset.

Whistle, Flo Rida
Catchy and near impossible to get out of your head, Flo Rida’s ‘Whistle’ seemed to be blared out from every nightclub, bar, shop, restaurant and television this summer. The rapper’s suggestive lyrics and cheeky melody definitely ensured we were in the mood to hit the strip!

Feel Alive, Jean Élan ft. Cosmo Klein
This electronic house number was released last year by the Berlin based DJ and producer, but didn’t reach my ears until early May and ever since the repeat button has been abused. It’s addictive and when pumping in the clubs abroad it one hundred percent makes you ‘feel alive, so alive’!

We’ll be Coming Back, Calvin Harris ft. Example
When these boys come together to make music, magic is made! As well as being musical geniuses in their own right, the fabulous duo are two of my favourite artists of the moment with this track sporting a high rating on my playlist.

Feel the Love, Rudimental ft. John Newman
It would be a crime against the summer playlist not to mention this huge anthem. Who would have thought drum and base from the quartet and a splash of soul lyrics from Newman could create a perfect release on the dance floor?

Heat Wave, Wiley ft. Mrs D.
Finally, this grime artist certainly knows how to start a party, as well as implying it in the title, this tune brings the sunshine out, so much so that you can almost smell the sea, sand and sangria!
