This comes just three years after the first bottle of One rolled off the production line in 2005.
Every drop of profits goes to fund PlayPump®
One water donates every last drop of profits to funding amazing PlayPump® water systems in Africa. As children spin on the roundabout, water is pumped from deep underground into storage tanks, which are connected to taps.
The PlayPumps® are usually built in or close to schools - not only does this ensure a supply of willing volunteers, but it means children now go to school rather than wasting an average of five hours walking to collect water each day. To date, One water has funded 187 PlayPumps®.
If consumers switched to One Water
The UK bottled water industry is worth over £1.5 billion. If consumers switched from their usual brand of water to One, the impact of water provision in Africa would be dramatic.
Just 1% of Londoners buying one bottle of One water a day could fund a PlayPump® for a community each and every single day of the year.
Make an ethical decision when you purchase your bottled water
One is not trying to grow the bottled water market, and encourages consumers to drink tap water where possible. However, we ask consumers of bottled water to make a conscious brand decision and choose the ethical option where possible.
One enables bottled water drinkers to make a massive difference to those less fortunate without having to donate a penny.
NUS is a proud supporter of One Water
NUS has supported One water since its inception. One water is currently stocked in many students’ unions throughout the UK and so far direct university sales mean that at least 10,000 people’s lives in Africa have changed for the better with constant access to clean water.
One water is available at most students’ unions (have a word with your representative if you haven’t seen it on campus yet) and you can also purchase it at all major stockists too!
