Save paper by reducing your mail

A study by chooseyourmail.co.uk shows that households in the UK annually receive 6,301,079,200 pieces of direct mail, which takes residents about 52,508,993 hours to wade through.

That’s equivalent to 2,386,772 flights to Sydney or 35,005,996 football matches – and if all this mail was placed end to end, it would stretch from London to New York 270 times.

It all seems to end up in the bin

The research indicates that 60% of people file more than half of everything they receive in the bin and a third throw away about 90% without giving it a second glance because it’s irrelevant.

Yet a staggering 94% said they were interested by some of the direct mail they receive and would like the opportunity to choose what comes through their door.

Opt-In to receiving mail instead

chooseyourmail.co.uk  is a free online solution helping you to take control of your post and by doing so, reducing paper wastage. It enables you to “opt-in” to receiving offers through the mail from UK companies that specifically are of interest.

You can change your chooseyourmail.co.uk  profile at any time to reflect their changing needs, making your direct mail as relevant as possible.

Having choice and saving the world at the same time

Mark Jackson, co-founder of chooseyourmail.co.uk  says: “With £72 billion of consumer sales currently estimated through direct mail, there are clearly mailings that are hitting the mark and this is where chooseyourmail.co.uk comes in.

Unlike the Mailing Preference Service, which stops all mail, we offer our members the chance to tell companies, for free, what they want to receive. We give consumers the power to choose what comes through their letterbox.”
