It’s that time of year: exams are coming to an end, we’re making our way home for the next few months and the sun is making an appearance (albeit intermittently). That’s right, summer is here at last! So here are a few tips and tricks to keep you looking good this bright and (hopefully) sunny season.

Dos
• It’ll be all-white on the night: A white outfit highlights a nice summer tan, so ladies, don a white dress, laden yourself with gold jewellery and pop on a pair of metallic sandals to channel your inner Greek goddess. Gents, keep it simple with a crisp white shirt and a pair of beige chinos for a perfect BBQ look.
• Ladies only – socks and sandals: And I mean ladies only! Lads, you can never make this look anything other than ‘headmaster chic’. But girls, by all means keep your tootsies warm and rock the preppy look by wearing your strappy sandals.
• Pick up some pastels: Believe it or not, light shades work on men and women. So try lemon yellows and baby blues, which will set off your tan (and pastels work on any skin tone so double win!).

Don’ts
• Forget about your winter warmers: This is good old Blighty, remember. Keep your cardis and macs within grabbing distance for all those random showers.
• Cut down all your shorts: On those odd days when the sun is really beating down and you haven’t got a pair of shorts to hand, don’t just take your scissors to your skinnies – you’ll need your legs covered come September!
• Forget the suncream: Lobster red doesn’t go with anything! Not to mention all the damage you’ll do to your skin, so if you do nothing else this summer keep topping up that factor 30!
