Oppose changes to A-Levels

A-Level Reform

NUS is calling on the government’s Education Secretary, Michael Gove to reverse the decision to radically review A-level qualifications.

The government is once again rushing through reforms without thought on the impact they will have on students. From September 2013, A-levels will be more linear, removing January assessments and limiting students’ right to a resit.

Furthermore, the content of A-levels will be developed under the strong influence of the UK’s elite universities.

We believe that this will mean A-levels are increasingly seen as the only route into Higher Education.

This will further devalue vocational routes into HE and undermine A-Levels as a stand-alone qualification valued by employers and wider society.

We are calling on students to urge the government to reverse this policy and we need your help to lobby your MP’s and put pressure on Michael Gove to rethink his damaging reforms.

NUS is asking students to help us in our campaign.  You can do this by writing to your MP using the form below.
