Key theft
It's very hard to steal a modern car without the keys this probably explains why 7% of home burglaries in 2008/9 involved the taking of a vehicle using keys stolen from the home.
Keep your car keys safe going out and leaveing them at home with your car parked outside makes it too easy for criminals to find a new get away car!
Sat Nav
If you use portable satellite nav take it with you whenever you leave the car. Remove the holder and suction pads and clean marks left on the windscreen.
Thieves are known to look for these telltale signs and sometimes break in anyway.
Number Plate
If your plates are stolen then contact the Police immediately. It may seem trivial but if the plates are used to change on another car you can expect to start receiving penalty charges or even being suspected of committing crimes yourself!
